Desamparados County is one of 20 counties that make up the San Jose Metropolitan
Area. South of the downtown San Jose area, it has a rural charm.
Just west of the Irazu Volcano, vacation lodging and hotels are nearby the Rio Tiribi at Desamparados.
The neighborhood of Desamparados Costa Rica is primarily rural farming
community, growing coffee, plantain and sugar cane. The Carpintera Protected
Zone is also found in Desamparados Canton.
