Montes de Oca County is one of 20 counties comprising the Metropolitan Area
of the San Jose, the capital city of Costa Rica.
East of downtown San Jose and north of Curridabat, this suburb is better
known as San Pedro de Montes de Oca. This area hosts the nation's largest
educational and research institutions, including the University of Costa
Rica and the Organization for Tropical Studies.
