Interestingly,
several coffee plantations in the Palmares Canton offer vacationers' the
choice of luxury accommodations at bed and breakfast inns. These provide
the traveler with a quiet and relaxing stay away from the bustling crowds
at more famous tourist destinations.
Palmares de Alajuela is also home to the Fundacion Madre Verde, whose
function is to contribute to environmental restoration and conservation in
Palmares, Costa Rica, by promoting the gradual recovery of recharge and groundwater
zones within the Montes del Aguacate Biological Corridor.
Vacation activities in the area include a butterfly garden, and environmental
education center, river and naturalist guides, and hiking trails.
