Los Chiles County Costa Rica
Located in the northernmost plains of Costa Rica, and sharing
borderlands
with Nicargua, Los Chiles county lies along the San Juan Biological
Corridor,
a joint wildlife habitat preservation project between the two countries.
Most visits to the Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge begin at Los
Chiles.
You can find plenty of boat docks along the Rio Frio, and naturalist
guides
to tour you through the winding channels of the Cano Negro wetlands,
famous
for its fishing season.
Birdwatching in the area is world famous; migratory birds flock here in
the
millions, numbers not seen anywhere else in the world.
Los Chiles has an airport that serves charter flights. The hotels
and
lodges in the Los Chiles area cater to birdwatching enthusiasts,
and
many provide tours and birding guides.
