Detailed Road Map of
Guatuso County Costa Rica
The southwestern portion of Guatuso canton is bordered by the
Continental
Divide running through the Guanacaste Volcanic Cordillera, the
mountains
of the northern Guanacaste range.
One of the landmarks in Guatuso is Lake Cote, a small secluded lake in
the
mountains which overlook the much larger Lake Arenal, with views of the
chain
of volcanoes leading to Arenal National Park.
The Guatuso Indian Reserve is dedicated to the Malekus, one of the last
indigenous
tribes of Costa Rica. It is located in the northern plains near the
city
of San Rafael de Guatuso. This region of reservations is also referred
to
as Huetar Norte.
