With
steeply forested mountains along the Central Volcanic Cordillera, Alvarado
Canton is the located along the Caribbean slopes of the Irazu Volcano in Costa Rica.
The three districts of Alvarado are Capellades, Pacayas and Cervantes, all
of which have steep mountainous terrain, 4WD car only. The main highway passes
through Cervantes just north of Paraiso Canton.
