Detailed Road Map of
Barva County Costa Rica
Barva de Heredia is perhaps best known for the dormant Barva Volcano,
with its forest covered crater, and the National Park Braulio Carrillo.
Extreme
adventure for the brave tourists - try some waterfall rappelling in
Sacramento
de Barva. These vacation destinations are within an easy drive of the
capital
city San Jose.
Another part of this secluded
area includes a mountain range containing a trio of peaks commonly
known
as The Three Marys. Barva has a cloud
forest and several riparian settings where numerous rivers and
Nacientes (streams)
spring. Birdwatching in this area is excellent, as it is a habitat for
the Quetzal, as well as many other birds, mammals
and reptiles.
Barva is a small town outside Heredia, with plenty of history and
culture to supplement its stunning volcano-side location. And while
there you can attempt the climb of nearly 3,000m, or content yourself
with some excellent hiking and wildlife encounters on the lower volcano
slopes.
Many tourists enjoy the coffee plantation tours operated by Costa
Rica's
largest coffee exporter, Cafe Britt, including a stage skit and lunch.
Mountain biking is a popular sport in the Barva region, with a cool
climate
and beautiful scenery along the roads. Easy bike riding in the
foothills
and more strenous climbing the trails to the volcanoes. |
