Detailed Road Map of
Sarapiqui de Heredia Costa Rica
For most, the Sarapiqui River is synonymous with some of the best
white water rafting and kayaking adventures in Costa Rica. Offering
several
stretches of Class III, Class IV and Class V rapids, the Rio Sarapiqui
and
its feeder rivers traverse from the volcanic highlands all the way to
the
San Juan River Basin protected zone.
With names like La Virgen, Aguas Bravas, Chilamate and El Tigre, many
towns
in the Sarapiqui rainforest region offer vacation travelers plenty of
choices
for hotels, bed and breakfasts and cabin style lodging.
Downstream of the municipalidad city of Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui, many
tour
operators are available with naturalist guides for birdwatching and
nature
enthusiasts.
If you are driving from San Jose, you will take the Guapiles Highway to
the
city of Guapiles, then turn north toward Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui.
