Liberia Costa Rica
The international airport at Liberia Guanacaste has rental cars available,
and many tourist destinations in the mountains and beaches are within a couple of hours drive.
Lodging varies from large chain hotels and luxury beach resorts to casual
B&Bs, to homestays, cabinas and guest houses.
Liberia Canton extends inland into the Highlands of the Guanacaste Mountain
Range. Tourist destinations in this region include the Rincon de la Vieja
Volcano, and the Rio Canas for kayaking and birdwatching. Within a few minutes
of Liberia City are the Laguna Palenque Wetlands and the Lomas de Barbudal
Biological Station.
The Inter-American Highway
passes through Liberia leading north and west to the Guanacaste beaches.
Naranjo Bay and the famous surfing spot Witches' Rock, and the Nancite Station
of the Santa Rosa National Park are some of the coastal tourist destinations
of Liberia County.
