The municipalidad, or county seat, of Carrillo County is Filadelfia.
Most travelers passing through Filadefia are on their way to Sardinal
and
the northern Guanacaste beach areas of Ocotal, Playas del Coco and
Panama, in the Bay of Culebra and Papagayo Gulf.

The Playas del Coco, also known as Coco Beach, has become an upscale
residential
area with beautiful homes overlooking the placid Culebra Bay. If you
rent
a car at the Liberia airport, the drive is about an hour to the Playas
del
Coco area. The Papagayo tourism project area has many luxury resorts,
golf courses and vacation attractions.
There is also a Playa Hermosa in this region, not to be confused with
the more famous Playa Hermosa south of Jaco Beach.
Carrillo Canton should
not be confused with the famous Playa Carrillo near Samara Beach.
Those popular beaches are further south, located in Nicoya County
and Hojancha Canton.
