Canas Costa Rica
Cañas is a small town located along the Inter-American highway,
and lying on the banks of the Cañas River. On the west, it is
bordered
by the Tenorio River and the River Bebedero, flowing into the Tempisque
River
north of the Gulf of Nicoya.
The northern portion of the county is mountainous, leading up to the
Tenorio
Volcan National Park, where the headwaters of the Rio Cañas is
born.
Tourist attractions in the area include birdwatching, hiking, and
horseback
riding.
Visitors will also find mud baths, spas and hotsprings at the many
mountain
cottages and hotels available. Kayaking on the Canas River is a popular
activity,
as many of Costa Rica exotic tropical animals can be spotted along the
way.
