Detailed Road Map of
Hojancha Costa Rica
The municipalidad of Hojancha is a quaint little town on the Nicoya
Peninsula.
Its economy is primarily based on government services and shopping for
area
residents.
The only beach area within Hojancha Canton is Playa Carrillo. The
neighboring Samara Beach is in Nicoya Canton.
Playa Carrillo is a picturesque horse-shoe shaped beach lined with palm
trees
and soft white sand. The grass runway airport at Carrillo is right at
the
beach, giving tourists a feeling of landing on the beach, and a
vacation
memory that is unforgettable.
The majority of the mountainous countryside of Hojancha Canton is used
for
agriculture, much of it being huge teak plantations. The nacientes, or
natural
springs, that are born in these mountains, are very important water
supplies
for the Nicoya Peninsula. One of these is the headwaters of the Nosara
River,
which is protected by the Monte Alto Forest Reserve and Nosara
Protected
Zone in Hojancha.
