Montes de Oro Costa Rica
Driving north of the city of Puntarenas along the InterAmerican
Highway,
you pass through this small inland county of Montes de Oro on the route
to
Monteverde and Guanacaste.
Dense forests and crystal clear rivers cover the area, and a small
highway
climbs northward into the hills through Miramar, the municipalidad
county
seat.
Literally translated "hills of gold", a few tourists manage to spend
some
time hiking in the area, experiencing the exotic tropical wildlife of
Costa
Rica, and looking for a fleck of gold shining in a creek.
