Detailed County Road Map
of
Osa Canton Costa Rica
Much of the Osa Canton is not actually on the Osa Peninsula. Extending
considerably north, all the way to the central Pacific Coast town of
Dominical,
Osa Canton is primarily comprised the the lowland wetlands region of
Costa
Rica's largest rivermouth delta complex at the confluence of the
Terraba
and Sierpe Rivers.
Much of the forested area of the Sierpe region is part of the Golfo
Dulce
Forest Reserve, and winds its way out onto the northern neck of the Osa
Peninsula
including the famous Drake Bay, all the way to the northern borders
of Corcovado
National Park.
The coastal highway, or Costanera, is a smooth modern paved highway
from
Dominical through Palmar, the proposed site of Costa Rica's next major
international
airport. A road leads from Palmar to the small town of Sierpe, but from
there
boat taxis are the preferred method of travel to Drake Bay and
Corcovado
on the northern Osa Peninsula.
