and Jaco Beach Costa Rica
Along the highway to Jaco Beach, you will cross into Garabito Canton
just before reching the bridge at the Rio Grande de Tarcoles. Here you
will
find the famous tourist destination of Carara National Park, home of
some
of the best birdwatching in the country, with common sightings of the
beautiful
and endangered Scarlet Macaw.
Shortly after
passing by the beach areas of Punta Leona, you will find Herradura Bay,
home
of the Los Suenos Resort and currently the largest yachting marina on
the
Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. This area is famous for its luxury
accommodations
and vacation activities include boating, sailing, fishing and yachting.
Jaco Beach has a well developed expat community. The closest beach area
to
Metropolitan San Jose, Jaco has an extended tourism season year-round,
with
busy weekends. Known for its surfing, bars, nightlife, and forbidden
entertainments,
Jaco offers vacation accommodation ranging from cheap backpackers
hostels
to luxury condos.
Further south you will find the quieter surfing
and beach communities of Pochotal and Playa Hermosa, with tranquil
beachfront
homes and a more laid-back and casual style of tourism and surfing.
