Limon County Costa Rica
The
city of Puerto Limon is the largest port on the Caribbean coast of
Costa
Rica. Import and export of trade goods and products, as well as
tourism,
make up the economy of Limon.
In the center of Limon city, you will find the open air market and the
Vargas
Park, where you can spend all day watching the sloths hang out in the
trees.
Playa Bonita is on the north side of the city of Limon, but the most
popular
Caribbean beaches are further to the south, at Puerto Viejo and Cahuita.
Driving from San Jose to Puerto Limon, you will take the Caribbean or
Guapiles
Highway. After you pass through the Zurqui Tunnel, you will find the
entrance
to the Braulio Carrillo National Park. If you want a short, refreshing
nature
trail, stop at the ranger station there. Continue along the main
highway
through the topical rainforests, and you will see plenty of wildlife
and
waterfalls along the way. Pass through the cities of Guapiles, Guacimo
and
Siquirres on your way to Puerto Limon.
