Rica. The coastal
highway, also called the Costanera, now extends the entire length of
the
Puntarenas Pacific Coast, connecting the hundreds of beach areas.
The Central Pacific Region of Costa Rica contains many of the most
popular
beach areas and vacation destinations in the country, because of the
relatively
short driving distance from the city of San Jose to the beaches.
The Puntarenas Southern Pacific region is dominated by rainforests,
remote
beaches and the famous Osa Peninsula. More remote, with lengthy driving
distances,
this region is much less developed. If you are looking for a truly
remote
rainforest experience, the southern vacation destinations are for you.
Lodging varies from beachfront huts and yoga retreats, luxury beach
resorts to casual
B&Bs, to homestays cabinas and guest houses.
Tourism activities in Puntarenas include surfing, sailing,
sportfishing, waterfalls, canopy tours, rainforests, birdwatching, and
nature guides. Famous
national parks include Manuel Antonio and Corcovado. |
